Acting
Coach

I’m an acting coach based in New York City teaching The Barrow Group Approach to Acting; a bunch of tools to get acting as loose, spontaneous and as invisible (meaning you can’t tell the actor is acting) as possible. People who study with me include: Broadway actors, feature film stars, writers, directors, dancers, musicians and artists of all disciplines who know that this training feeds their art. They are based and travel all over the world doing what they love. I am a mother, an artist, actor and director.  I teach acting classes online, and in person in NYC, LA and SF, and love what I do!

kind words

“I love Alyson, both as a co-actor and director and definitely feel that anyone who gets to have her as a teacher is lucky to get her keen insights on scene analysis, and basic acting tools (that I constantly forget) and mainly to have a good time while learning!”

“Alyson Schacherer is an extraordinary actor, director, teacher! She does it all and excellently!”

Seth Barrish
co-Artistic Director of The Barrow Group, author of An Actor’s Companion
“Alyson's accessible and insightful teaching style makes her a great acting coach for both working actors and less experienced performers. Her background as an admired actor and director just adds to her creative skill set and allows her to bring more to each class and student. ”
